Bonafide Diversions Inc. announces its release of Scavenger Chronicles, the World’s 1st true MMO for hardcore gamers on a social networking platform
Champaign-Urbana, Illinois March 18, 2010
On May 15, 2010 Bonafide Diversions Inc., a small development company, will release the World’s 1st true Sci-Fi MMO game created specifically for the hardcore MMORPG gaming community.
Scavenger Chronicles (often referred to by players as Scavenger) will finally allow hardcore gamers to experience and engage in all of the key elements of a true MMO within a social networking platform and community.
Scavenger Chronicles was skillfully developed to give the hardcore MMO gamer a superior gaming experience compared to anything that is currently offered on a social networking platform. One area that the game is unequalled is its character creation process with rich stats that include dynamic power-enhancing weapons and gear. Unlike casual games that only offer “click button to do quest” and single-path game play, Scavenger offers over 500 quests and plays like a traditional MMO that requires advanced game-play strategy and battle decisions that hardcore MMO gamers demand.
Scavenger also demonstrates groundbreaking online capabilities that go far beyond any previous casual MMO game on Facebook, allowing players to share characters and fight monsters with each other. This also adds to the depth of strategy and multi-player engagement required to level up in the game.
Although Scavenger Chronicles' captivating back-story won’t disappoint Sci-Fi fans, the "real back-story" of the game is that it was programmed entirely in JavaScript, without using any Flash. There is nothing to download or install and a player may simply add the app and begin playing. Most of the JavaScript is based on the jQuery project, and Scavenger is the first full-scale game to use jQuery in this way.
Open Beta began for Scavenger on December 25, 2009. Terence McGhee, Bonafide Diversions' CTO, states, "We started to let some folks in the hardcore gaming community know that Scavenger was in development last summer, and immediately they wanted to know when we were going to be ready for Beta. We thought it would be kinda cool to give our MMO beta-enthusiasts a gift to start playing on Christmas. They’ve been amazing, and quite honestly, they’re a huge part of the reason why we’re now ready to share Scavenger with the world."
